Okay. First things first.
We're occupying the house. When last we spoke we had brought some boxes over to the house and were anxiously awaiting our certificate of occupancy. Power was turned on Friday, July 11th. Movers brought our furniture over that weekend. I took a couple of days off to finish moving stuff out of Leisa's house. We closed on that July 15th. Sr. Angel Gomez is the happy owner of 4805 West Montebello.
The computer was down for a week or so during the move, hence updates weren't possible. Further, we've been wicked busy rearranging boxes of stuff, and updates weren't possible because Leisa has me working what amounts to a second job putting the house in occupiable condition.
Now, as far as updates for the past two weeks, here it is:
I'm not going to say much here, or put any pictures of stuff for a bit. (Yes, the digital camera has been repaired.) I have a feeling that if I sit down with some wine and start typing, I'm going to start hating on some people. We've spent a mountain of money these past few weeks on things we shouldn't have had to spend money on. I know, that's grammatically incorrect, and that I'm making up words as they suit my pleasure, please don't hate on me. We're at the point where we should be choosing drapes and furniture. Instead, there is an outfusion of cash on stuff on stuff that should've been included in our financing. Accordingly, we have newspapers adorning our west windows.
I'll put pictures up of all the stuff that's wrong, instead of all of the stuff that's right. Leisa just keeps saying, "I wish it was three months from now, and all of this was over and done." She gets very stressed when she looks around and watches one subcontractor ruin someone else's work
Okay. So I can't go without one or two illustrations. Here's where the air conditioner guys had to take out the previously-installed attic staircase because the new evaporator unit for the new air conditioner wouldn't fit up the steps. Now Mark has to come back and re-install the stairs, and Frank has to come back and redo the paint. Maybe we can get a two-for-one discount when Frank touches up the dining room.
Here's the dining room. That's Brittany, jumping to get into the picture. The hole in the middle of the wall is where the a/c guy was going to locate the thermostat. I told him absolutely not; that Leisa was out at that exact moment shopping for a hutch to occupy the space, and that it would have to be moved. I gestured to the spot above the light switch. He told me he didn't have a long enough drill bit to go through a fire block at that spot, but that he would come out on Monday and hook it up. This is Saturday afternoon and it was in the high eighties in the room. I told him that it was absolutely unacceptable that this wait until Monday. I told him to drill the hole in the ceiling and run the wire down the wall, per code. We have a new unit and now it's in the low eighties in the room. It's now Wednesday evening, and the thermostat has still not been properly hooked up, nor has the a/c guy been back to tune the unit.
I'm about to start hating on people.
