Letting vehicles park in my front yard! I'd get a $2,500 ticket for this (and
maybe six months in jail) if I allowed this to happen while the Arizona State Fair was going on.
Even with two
big trucks in a dirt yard, the house looks better now that the stupid mesquite
tree is gone.
Thursday morning, the beam and crane came. The
beam was about nine hundred pounds. It was rolled off the trailer, then
the crane came into the yard and moved the beam into place. The crane
operator says there's "110 feet of stick" on his truck. Before Jim suggested dropping the beam in the back yard, the crane guy told us he was going to take the beam up, over the power lines, and into the backyard. I think he was on drugs. One slip, and power would've gone out all over Phoenix. APS came out and cut my power off at the pole so they could get the crane in the back yard. |
Chris and Ernie move the beam into place as Mark supervises. Later, the beam is bolted to both the foundation and the footings. Why, why, why, couldn't they have dropped the beam on one of worthless stray cats that infest the 'hood? |
Friday afternoonHere's the beam after it's in place. |
And here's one of the excavation bunnies, hard at work. |
